Hematopoietic Stem & Progenitor Cells

ReachBio´s Hematopoietic Stem Cells (CD34+ & CD133+) are collected from and isolated under IRB-approved protocols from screened healthy donors within the USA. Cell enrichment is performed via positive or negative selection using industry standrad immunomagnetic bead technologies. We guarantee high purities and high post-thaw recoveries.

Products marked REACHBIO QUALIFIED™ have been pre-tested in functional Colony-Forming Cell (CFC) assays using ReachBio´s own ColonyGEL™ methylcellulose-based media. All REACHBIO QUALFIED™ lots provides valuable functional information to the end user, including the frequency of the erythroid and myeloid progenitors and a recommended plating concentration for the CFC assays.

ColonyGEL™ – Colony Forming Cell Assays (CFC-Assays)

Colony Forming Cell (CFC) assays are well characterized and validated in vitro assays that can detect an increase or decrease in the frequency of hematopoietic progenitor proliferation and/or changes in differentiation potential in response to stimulatory, inhibitory or toxic agents.

Hematopoietic progenitors form morphologically distinct colonies when grown in a suitable semi-solid medium containing appropriate growth factors and other supplements. To form the specific colony type that characterizes its potential, a progenitor cell must both proliferate and differentiate within the supportive matrix.

Colony-forming cell (CFC) assays therefore have great utility in the identification and enumeration of the different types of functional progenitors in hematopoietic tissues (e.g., bone marrow, cord blood, fetal liver) and manipulated cell populations (e.g., purified, expanded, frozen/thawed, drug treated, etc.).

Non-hematopoietic Stem Cells
Mesenchymal Stem Cells are multipotent stromal cells found in many adult tissues which contain stem cells. They are cryopreserved and can be cultured and propagated for several population doublings.The cells are well characterized. Under special medium conditions they can be used to differentiate into some mesodermal or ectodermal cell types like neurons, chondrocytes and more.

MSC´s will be cultivated (expanded) in special media which kkep the differentiation potential for three passages.You have the choice between FBS containing media and a xeno-free medium.
